Why you should visit Bruges

Bruges is a lovely city in Belgium and with a midieval history, which you can still see in the city center and it surroundings. Each year, a lot of tourist visit the midieval center of Bruges and none of them have regretted doing the trip.

Must visits in Bruges

Bruges isn’t that big, but it has plenty to do when you’re there.

Experience the midieval city yourself – Wandering around in the small but midieval center of Bruges will open your eyes. It’s probably the most well preserved midieval city of Europe. So definitely worth a visit.

Belgian food & drinks – Ok, this isn’t a reason to visit Bruges itself, but more to travel to Belgium. But the Belgian food & drinks are also worth a visit on its own. Great Belgian beer, the finest chocolate (around the world) and much more. Bruges even has it’s own beer: Brugse Zot (Bruges Fool), a must to try it out when you’re in Bruges.

Windmills around Bruges – Bruges is often named “Venice of the North”. Due to it’s canals throughout the city center and the water fence around the city. Inside that water fence you can find historic windmills. A must do walk or bike tour of Bruges.

Bruges Beer Festival – Every year (in september) there’s a Bruges Beer Festival. A good number of Belgian breweries come together at the market square and Belfry and let tourists and locals taste their beers. Really worth it when you’re there.

Combine with Ghent, Antwerp or Brussels – As Bruges isn’t that big, you can see it in 2 or 3 days. So why not visit another Belgian city that’s only 1 hour away? Think about visiting Ghent, Antwerp or Brussels while you’re visiting Bruges.

In our opinion Bruges is really worth a visit. You can enjoy a midieval historic city center and enjoy all Belgian finest foods and drinks.
