A holiday in Australia? Sounds like a great plan to us! But before you start planning and start to get too excited, there are some things you really should know about Australia. First, the country is enormous! You won’t be able to see everything in just one trip. So the good news is you can plan a second trip to Australia right!
If you’re thinking about a trip to Australia, what’s the first think that comes to your mind? Certainly Kangaroos, beaches, Aussies, big country.. The country is so so big and has so much to offer. Actually more then you think. We did some research and based on our own travel experience in Australia we’ve created a list of the best holiday destinations in Australia. This is just a limited list and there are actually much more places you should visit. So don’t bother getting everything in just one trip. We’ve spend 30 days in Australia and only saw small part of what the country has to offer. A bit disappointing, but the good news is you can need to go back to Australia. Because you should revisit this beautiful country.
Regions in Australia
Before we can start, we’ll give you a little insight with a map, where the regions are in Australia.
- Northern Territory
- New South Wales
- South Australia
- Western Australia
Each region has something (more than something actually) to offer. Each region is worth visiting. But in one trip you won’t be able to do it all. So that’s why we’ve created this list of best holiday destinations in Australia.
Also keep in mind that there are different climates throughout Australia.
Traveling in Australia
If you’re planning a trip to Australia, then we advice to stay at least 31 days in this beautiful country, island and continent. Yes, all of the above statements are true for Australia. There are a lot of things to do and also a lot of ways to visit Australia.
If you’re time (and budget) is limited, we advice to book some domestic flights. This way you can visit multiple regions in a short term and still see all of the most beautiful destinations and things Australia has to offer. If you only want to see one part of Australia but really intensely? Then I would recommend to hire a car / camper and drive yourself. You can stop wherever you want and enjoy.
Please keep in mind that you’ll be in the car for a lot miles / kilometres. Because Australia is really huge!
